Book Review: Read and Share Toddler Bible

The Read and Share Toddler Bible with bonus DVD as retold by Gwen Ellis and illustrated by Steven Smallman is a wonderful bible for children. The bible includes 40 short bible stories from both the new and old testaments along with interactive learning suggestions that reinforce biblical stories and encourage parent/child interaction. It’s filled with colorful illustrations to keep your toddler’s interest. The DVD is filled with one-hour of simple bible stories.

I have read quite a few children’s Bible’s but I will have to say that this Toddler Bible is a wonderful bible for little ones. First off, I really like the size. It measures about 6”x 7”—just the right size for little hands to hold and handle. The illustrations are colorful and engaging. The stories are suited for toddlers—short and fun. Ellis includes everyday things that a small child can relate more to in the retelling of stories. An example is that she states, “God made all the animals, puppies, kitties…” She also makes the stories fun. “God made Adam. ‘Hello, Adam.’”

The DVD is just as charming. Each story on the DVD is short to keep the toddler’s attention. The video is also quite calming and relaxing for children to watch. My 3 year old was thoroughly engaged in the stories.

The only negative thing I have to say about it is I don’t care for the plastic liner to hold the DVD in the front of the book. It is difficult to get in and out and realistically, I wouldn’t want to leave this in the book where little ones could have access to it. I would prefer if the DVD came in a cardboard folder.

This is an adorable book and DVD and would make a wonderful gift for a little ones baptism or birthday or just for fun.

I also like the price on this. The Bible and the Book’s list price is $14.99 for both but right now, you can get it for $11.24 at
