You Never Know What to Believe--The Safest Plastics

In one week I had a couple appointments where I had to wait.  I, of course, read magazines.  In one magazine (and I don't remember which one) I read about which plastics are safest.  I jotted them down so I would remember.  It stated that numbers 2,4,5 are considered more toxic and 3, 6, and 7 are more confusing.  #1 is safe. The next week, I read in the September 2010 issue of Better Homes and Gardens that plastics with the numbers 1,2,4,5 were safer and 3,6,7 are questionable.  My question is this:  just who do you believe?  It seems that we hear one thing one week and the opposite the next.

So, after extensive searching on the internet, I have found a general consensus that  2, 4, 5 are all okay, and I have read 1 is the best. From what I read, you should avoid using 3, 6 and 7 with foods.

Boy, I wish I knew what magazine I read that in!!!
