This is a delightful story featuring and adorable polar bear cub and his mother. The mother bear explains how delighted she and Papa were when they discovered the baby was growing inside her. Mama tells of Papa talking and singing to the cub in her belly and how excited they were to hear the cubs heartbeat. She tells the cub how she prayed for a healthy cub that would love God. Throughout the story, the Mama reiterates the answer that "God gave us you" to all of the little cubs questions. In the end, little cub feels happy and safe because, "God had given her--little her--to Mama and Papa."
The book features beautiful artwork by Laura J. Bryant in soft, comforting hues of blue and white. The illustrations feature not only the polar bears, but other arctic animals. The pictures are very enticing, especially to little ones.
Reading this book, I felt very comforted by the words on the page. It has a soft, easy flow and my little ones enjoyed snuggling into me as I read words that seemed to come straight from my own heart for my children. This will be a book that we will read over and over.
