Investing in Toddler Toys--How and Where to Make Wise Purchases

Over the past week, I have sold three plastic outdoor toys.  The first was the Cozy Coupe.  I paid $20 for it at a flea market 5 years ago.  Sold it for $15.  The second was for a plastic slide.  Bought it for $3 at a garage sale six years ago.  Sold it for $5 yesterday.  The last was a plastic play house.  I paid $20 for it at a garage sale 6 years ago.  I sold it for $75 (and had several buyers lined up for it)!!!

The moral of the story?  Don't buy kids plastic outdoor toys new!  These toys generally don't wear out.  They may fade, but your kids don't care.  And, the best part, if you buy them used, you can usually sell them for what you paid for them (or if you are lucky, more).  Look for these toys at second-hand stores, flea markets, garage sales or Craigslist.  If you know of families with older kids, let the parents know you'd like to purchase their toys as they outgrow them.

I've never thought about reselling the outdoor toys! I actually bought all of my children's outdoor toys. I'm definitely going to keep this in mind for next time! Thanks!
