Review: Interactive iPad book for kids - Elfishki and The Giant Cake

I recently had the opportunity to review the iPad children's book, Elfishki and the Giant Cake.  This is a really cute book for the iPad.  The colors, illustrations and scenery are beautiful!  While reading the story, your child may touch the page for the page to come to life with movement and sound.  The story contains values of kindness, getting along, and working together.  Each page also has three questions to engage children more in the story and help with comprehension.  And then there is the fun part--the Decorate the Cake.  Here kids can decorate their own cake, using items from both characters in the story.  When they finish, they can take a snapshot of their creation and save it or email it to someone with a message.

My girls really enjoyed the app, especially the decorating the cake.  I liked that the story had a good moral and also thought the illustrations/graphics were great.  The only problem I had was that the Listen to the story did not work.  We could not hear the story being read.

This app is available for iPad for only $2.99 and is available in English and German or FREE for the iphone.

Disclosure: I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
