Have you what laundry nuts are going crazy over? Eco Nuts Organic Fragrance Free Hypoallergenic Laundry Soap. Yes, this product looks like a nut because it is a nut! These nuts are actually berries that grow in the Himalayas that produces a soap on its own--completely natural. The soap is called saponin. They are gathered from wild trees so there are no pesticides, fertilizers, etc. Just pure goodness. They are certified USDA Organic.
Some benefits of using Econuts:
Safe to use
Can be used in HE machines/frontloaders as well as traditional machines
Gentle on skin
Safe for septic systems
Nut allergy safe (remember, it is really a berry)
No plastic in packaging
Naturally softens fabric so non need for softeners
Gentler on your clothing as chemical detergents can weaken fibers
Less expensive than traditional detergents
They are also easy to use. As taken from the Eco Nuts website:
Place 4-5 Eco Nuts in the reusable wash bag provided and tie it closed.
Put it in with your laundry and wash as normal, per manufacturer instructions.
Remove the bag at the end of the wash and set aside to dry or do another load.
Re-use at least 10 times until they start to disintegrate and then they can be composted in your garden or simply add new Eco Nuts to the bag.
From what I have read, it is getting great review. However, you probably still need to pre-treat stains. I have also read that it makes your clothing soft and fluffs up your towels. When I tried to do a price comparison to liquid detergents, I found prices for a 64-load ranged from about $50-$100 (HE). Priced at $12.99 from Amazon makes these a great deal! And, if you aren't satisfied, simply contact the company for a refund (per the Eco Nuts website)!
