Keep Potted Plants and Hanging Baskets Alive When Traveling

I really hate to ask my neighbors to water my plants when I am away.  It can really be a chore with all the plants I have, especially when we have hot, drought-like conditions.  So, instead of burdening them, I simply place my potted plants and hanging baskets in a shaded spot, preferably in the dirt or grass and water well before I leave.  Placing them in the shade and on the ground helps retain the moisture.  I have left plants for up to 5 days without being watered and they have all survived.  However, if you really have ones you would hate to lose, you might have a neighbor check on them.

In my nice neighborhood we help each other out! But that is a good way to keep your plants from drying out!
