Where were you at 8:46am September 11th, 2001? Most Americans over the age of 20 can probably tell you exactly what they were doing the moment they found out that America was under the attack by terrorist. It was a sad time for America, but, as with everything bad, there was good.
Not only were there brave first responders, who rushed in to help victims. There were people on the street, reaching out to help strangers. Americans pulled together to work through this tragedy. We were nicer to each other. We cared about each other. We hugged our loved ones a little longer. We donated to charities. We prayed.
And so today, eleven years later, where are we? Are we back to where we were before? Are we neglecting to tell our families and friends how much we care? Are we neglecting to help others?
We never know what tomorrow will bring. We only have today. And I challenge you for today, to do something kind for someone. Buy a cup of coffee for a co-worker. Say a prayer for a hurting friend. Donate to a charity. Hug your spouse/child a little longer. Honor your country. Make it a better place to live.
