Review: Packaways Reusable Dorm Boxes

Packaways Dorm Boxes are one of those great inventions that makes me question why no one invented this before.  These corrugated plastic reusable boxes are great for so many things!  The boxes are constructed to open easily without tape (just a push of the hand) and fold just as easily for storage.  They are made from durable polypropylene and come in great colors.  They come with cut out handles, which makes for easy transport, as well as erasable panels for labeling.  They come in four different sizes, including an under the bed storage size.

And...drum roll please...they are made in the USA!

These are perfect for students going off to collage.  They can easily tote their items to their dorm rooms and then dismantle the boxes once unloaded and easily slip them in a closet or under the bed till they need them again.  Whether it be for the next move, to tote seasonal clothing home and back or to tote dirty laundry home to mom, they are perfect!

My take on them.  First off, they are very easy to open and close.  Here is a photo demonstrating how pushing the sides allows them to open.  There is a little tab at the bottom that slips into place on its own to keep the bottom locked.

Easy to Collapse

They come in fun colors!  They arrived folded flat and they did easily pop open.  I also closed one back up with ease.

They are great uses other than dorm moves, too.  They would be great to store linens, clothing, and just about anything you can think of.  As a camper, it seems like I am constantly carrying things too and from the camper (towels, sheets, clothes).  Packaways are perfect for this!

The box tops have special cutouts to push two sides into to close.  You can see from the photos below how easy it is to close, without packing tape!

Once closed, they stack right on top of each other.  I especially like that the erasable panels for labeling are on two sides!  Well thought out!

Also notice the cut out handles.  This makes for easy transporting.

The boxes well constructed and durable.  To get an idea of the material, think of the mail room mail boxes at work.  It is similar construction.  And being plastic has the added benefit of some protection from water.  Ever pick up a box that got wet on the bottom only to lose the entire contents?  That won't happen with these.

I am so green that I am even going to reuse the box they came in, so I really love that these are designed to be reusuable.  You can learn more about them at
