We Helped Plant a Forest! #green #reforestation

This past weekend, my family and I headed over to Big Bone Lick State Park in Union, KY to help with a reforestation project.  This project is headed by the Northern Kentucky Urban and Community Forestry Council and invites volunteers to help plant a forest.  Can you imagine how exciting it was to be part of this movement?  We had a jam packed weekend but we just had to squeeze this in.

The girls had so much fun and were really a lot of help in planting trees.  We planted a row and a half of trees our selves.  There were many other volunteers there, as you can see.  This was just a section of the area that people were planting in.

Although it was cool out, the girls stuck with it.  At least it wasn't raining...or snowing...or even worse, in the teens like it had been the two mornings before!

Look how proud they are by trees they planted?  Imagine how exciting it will be for them to go back in a few years? Five years?  Ten years?  Twenty-five years?  Or how exciting for them to be able to go back with their own children and say, "See, I helped plant that forest!"

What an incredible moment in time for the entire family!  If you ever have this opportunity, jump on it!
