School's Out for the Summer!

It doesn't seem that long ago that I dropped my girls off for the first day of school, and here we are--the first day of summer break!

As you may remember, this was the first year I didn't homeschool.  I wasn't quite sure how the year would go, but I did know I would be busy.  In fact, I am still trying to get my house organized from the years of letting it go while I focused on homeschooling.  And unfortunately, for several months, I suffered from a rare, autoimmune thyroid disorder that left me feeling wiped out most days.  However, I did have a goal to get into better shape, which I did.  Hitting the gym nearly every morning was good for me--I met a group of lovely moms who did the same thing as I did.  Drop the kids off and hit the Y.  Out of this, I have developed some wonderful friendships.

But we are back to summer.  And unlike many parents, I am OVERJOYED to have my girls home all day again.  They were so cute with each other today.  I think they really missed having so much together time.  I know every day won't be like this and the bickering will start soon, but I am enjoying it while it lasts.  I love that I don't have to rush them to bed after dinner and they can enjoy the long summer evenings.  I love that we cuddled up today and read books like old times.

We have many plans for the summer.  Camping trips, drama camp, art classes, swimming and more.  I fear the summer will fly by and it will be time to take them to school before I know it.  Just trying to savor every moment because before I know it, I will be dropping them off at college.
