Mosquito Genie--A Natural Way to Reduce Mosquitoes #sponsored

Mosquitoes are pesky creatures that not only leave us itching, but can carry other diseases.  I was asked to try a complimentary Mosquito Genie to let my readers know what I thought about it.
The Mosquito Genie is an all natural way to control the mosquito population in your yard.  The concept is very simple.  It is a solar powered outdoor lamp that emits a garlic based solution that kills mosquitos.  The solar light draws them in and they fly off and die so you don't even have to clean up any dead bugs.

This isn't an instant fix--it takes some time--up to 4 weeks to see a reduction in the population.  The earlier you start in the season, the better because with each female laying hundreds of eggs at a time which can result in 3,000-4,000 eggs in just a months time!

I like the design--it just looks like a nice, solar lantern that comes on at dusk and shuts off at dawn. You can easily pull off that it is just a solar light.  I would like to see a hanger on it, though.  For large areas, they suggest having more than one and putting them in the corners of your yard.  I think it would be nice to hang them from a shepherd's hook.

I love that it only kills mosquitoes, gnats and no-see-ums, not good bugs like ladybugs.  Or fun ones, like lightening bugs.  Just the bad guys.

It is priced at $39.95 for the unit, which is a bit of an investment.  However, the garlic based solution lasts 3 months.  Refills are priced at $9.95 each.  However, if you buy in bulk on both the lamps and the refills, prices are less.

I didn't get my Mosquito Genie till late in the season, and have only had it on my deck for a couple weeks now.  I do have a mosquito rich environment with a creek bed out back that often runs low to dry so I probably really need more than one.  However, I noticed that I have not been getting eaten alive as I usually do when out in the evenings.  Now, whether this is due to the cooler temps we had a couple weeks back or not, I don't know.  However, I like the concept of the Mosquito Genie and with a money back guarantee if you aren't satisfied, I definitely think it is worth trying.
