#Giveaway & #Sweepstakes Sleek Smoke Detector @FirstAlert #firepreventionmonth

This is a sponsored post.  I received a smoke alarm to facilitate this review.

October is Fire Prevention Month.  One of the first lines of defense is a smoke alarm.  They are soooo important to have.  You should really have one one on every level of your home, even your basement.  I know a house not too far from mine burnt to the ground from a fire that started in the basement.  Many fatal fires begin late at night or early morning when people are sleeping so experts recommend installing smoke alarms both in your room and outside your room.

A recent survey conducted by First Alert showed that many Americans would likely buy new smoke alarms that offer the latest in technology in a smaller, sleeker design.  Those surveyed said they would love to have a choice of alarms that would blend better with their home decor. Of course, safety was still the name of the game.

So, guess what First Alert is offering?  You've got it--fashionable smoke detectors!  I was excited to check out the complimentary one they sent me.  These new detectors still have all the power of advanced photoelectric smoke alarms but now weigh less than two ounces and come in a variety of finishes--wood grain, stainless steel and bronze.  It also features revolutionary micro technology with an advanced smoke entry system for fewer false alarms (yay), and a loud, penetrating siren that can be heard throughout the whole house.

First Alert is also having a "Style Your Safety" sweepstakes with great prizes.  You simply have to take a quiz on Facebook to determine your safety style.  Ten winners a day will win an alarm that matches their style!

The smoke detector I received for review was unlike any I have ever seen.  First off, it is small.  About the size of a shot glass or even smaller. (Okay, I will admit, it has been a long time since I held a shot glass--I just pour).  Check out the pic below.

Pretty discreet, yes?  But still keeps you safe.  Trust me, this thing could wake the living dead!
