I love strategic games. I think they are fun and I think they are great for children as it helps them to develop skills needed in life. Fun and learning combined is always a plus. Top that with a game that not only the kids like, but I like as well. The latest game by Blue Orange Games, NIYA, does just that. It combines fun with strategy for all ages (8 and up).
In this two player game, players follow the pattern set by the rival clan to arrange their tokes in a row (think Bingo) or in a square. Sounds simple? Not so much. Every move you make effects what your rival will do, so you must look closely at not only your choices, but the choices that will be left for your rival.
What I love about the game:
- It's fun for all ages (8 and up)
- It's compact (4.5" x 6")--perfect for small spaces or travel
- It's easy to learn
- It's durable
- It's unique
- It is played quickly--within about 10 minutes
- It makes you think
