|Bac' n' Cheddar Waffle|
When I was in college, I spent a year or so working for IHOP. That's when I grew to love their buttermilk pancakes. And omelettes. I wasn't sure if it was because my other dining choice was dorm food, but IHOP rocked my college years, till the store on campus closed. Then, when I moved to Florida, I was delighted to live near and IHOP. I was an adult with more taste experiences under my belt, but I tell you, IHOP tasted as good then as it did in college. I moved some more and lived without an IHOP nearby so I was glad that my last move was in a city with an IHOP. I don't think anyone does pancakes as well as IHOP. Not even sure that I can top them on straight out buttermilk pancakes (although my pumpkin pancakes are out of this world).
I will have to admit, I never ordered waffles from them. Waffles are something I think a lot of places screw up and they just don't taste good. But today, I tried something off their Wafflicious menu. The Wafflullicous menu has two types of waffles: Bac' n' Ceddar and Blueberry Cheesecake. Since I typically don't like compote (but was tempted because it sounded so good), I ordered the Bacon Cheddar Ultimate Combo (back up of eggs, meats and hash browns if the waffle was bad). I wasn't quite sure of the cheddar cheese in a waffle. Do you put syrup on that? I asked the waitress and she assured me that you do and that it is delicious. I took her word. I was not let down! It was amazing. It is a nice, thick and crisp Belgian waffle with chunks of chopped up hickory-smoked bacon and cheddar cheese backed right in, then topped with more bacon. Everyone in my family tried and they all loved it. I regretted just not getting the full serving of waffle.
|Look--my kids stole 2 pieces of bacon and 2 pieces of sausage!|
I told them I would kill them if they touched my waffles!
Seriously--the Bac' n' Cheddar is amazing. I hope this is something they permanently add to the menu. Just writing about it makes me want to go back again today! Move over pancakes and make room for the waffles!
